Amish furniture is not a particular style, or brand. The Amish people live a simple, family oriented, lifestyle grounded in their faith. True Amish furniture is made by family workshops in Amish communities.
Most Amish furniture is made using age old techniques that have past the test of time. Individuals that grow up in Amish families learn at a young age the value of hard work, and of a job done well. This work ethic is reflected in the quality of the furniture they produce.
The vast majority of our Amish furniture is constructed of Ohio sourced hardwood solids. Some components may at times be of lumber core plywood for structural reasons.
All the fabrics offered by Smith Brothers of Berne, and by Country View Woodworking are rub tested for durability, and only top grain leathers are used.
We stock the items we display for immediate availability, and we also special order to suit the individual fabric, wood, hardware style, or stain needs of our customers. Country View Woodworking also works with us to provide custom built items.
All of our solid hardwood Amish furniture is finished in a catalyzed conversion varnish that is hard, and highly stain resistant. There is no special care required, but use of a quality wax-free polish on occasion is suggested. We recommend Guardsman or Woodwright polishes.
All of our solid hardwood Amish furniture is made in Holmes County, Ohio, which has the largest population of Amish in North America. Our Smith Brothers of Berne upholstered furniture is made in the heart of Indiana’s Amish country.
All Smith Brother of Berne upholstered furniture has a limited lifetime warranty on the frame, springs, and cushion foam, and one year on fabric. Country View Woodworking offers a one year warranty on all materials and workmanship. The Amish Gallery at Home of Economy has a well earned reputation of customer satisfaction that goes back over seventy-five years to our company’s founding.
All tables, chairs, and cabinets are constructed of solid American hardwoods. All drawers are dovetailed construction with full suspension ball bearing glides. Chairs and cabinets use mortice & tenon joinery, corner blocks, and pocket screws. All exposed wood is finished in a catalyzed conversion varnish. Undersides of tables, backs of cabinets and headboards, are finished.
The vast majority of products are available in northern red oak, quarter-sawn white oak, cherry, brown maple, hard maple, rustic cherry, and hickory.
